David Cook … True American Idol

August 13, 2010

American Idol is a must watch at my house every season. Both of my daughters love music, and enjoy watching the show from beginning to end. So, it was a no-brainer for me to see David Cook in concert at Festhaus Park this past Sunday. We had an opportunity to sit in the VIP Skybox for a great view of the show.

Not only is David Cook a great singer and performer, but he relates with his fans and audience. He paused between a few songs to have fun with his fans (pulling two young girls on stage that had brought a sign with them asking for guitar picks. He also pulled a father on stage that had a “man crush” on the bass player.) He performed songs from his first album and all of them were great. Toward the end of his performance, he played a couple of songs off of his new album.

I met a young lady at the show who is a big fan of David Cook. She truly appreciates all that he stands for and all he does to support cancer research. She is a survivor herself, and wanted to pass on her appreciation to him. He is a lot more than a performer to many people … he is truly an American Idol.

At the end of the show, he and his band mates took some time to meet with fans and take pictures and sign autographs. We got a chance to be a part of this experience, and what a treat it was. Although my youngest daughter portrays a shy image at first, she was the most excited to get to meet David Cook and quickly came out of her shell.

It was a great show to be a part of. I look forward to enjoying more concerts at the park, and to hearing more of David Cooks new CD!

    “his new album which will be released in September.” ????????
    Where did you get this info from? There is no date for his album release yet. This is misleading information and probably not true.

    Thanks so much for booking David Cook for your concert series. Many of his fans have gotten to know each other over the last tour, and the weekend ended up being a reunion full of fun and great music. Your park is lovely, and the staff really impressed me. You have captured accurately that David is much more than a musician to many of us. His concerts also are like none other I’ve been to. He demands your full participation, but gives so much back in return. Its a beautiful thing to be a part of!

    I’m glad you enjoyed your David Cook experience, Renee! I say ‘experience’ because you have to experience David live to truly appreciate all that he puts into his ‘job’. He and his band always give 150% to rockin’ out the audience, and the crazy antics on stage just add to the fun factor. David’s ‘extracurricular activities’ such as his commitment to cancer fundraising show that he is just as great a person off-stage, as on. Thanks, BG, for bringing him and his awesome band to Williamsburg!
    Y’all go out and get his new album when it comes out! :-}

    That is a fact, David Cook is more than just a talented singer, songwriter, and musician, he’s humble, down-to-earth and a great guy. He is truly an American Idol. He always takes time after a show to meet with fans, have pictures taken, and signs autographs and always thanks them for coming to the show. I had that opportunity after one show to meet him and what struck me is that he truly loves his fans and is incredibly soft-spoken and such a gentleman. He takes opportunities to do fund raisers and gives of himself. The reason he didn’t show up on the finale of A.I. was because he was doing a fund raiser so rather than benefit from appearing on national TV, he stayed with his commitment to do the fund-raiser. That screams integrity and being a man of his word. I truly applaud David Cook. I am a fan for life.
