Through Your Eyes

March 30, 2010

Hey guys, I’m your new guest blogger. By “guest blogger” I mean I got to experience the park as a guest. I came by Wolf Haven incognito to get a sneak peak of what it’s like to be a guest of our show. It was a lot of fun, and very informative. It allowed me to see the wolves from your point of view. Here’s my review:

Wolf Haven was beautiful. The deck was really nice, and it was easy to see over the heads of the people in front of me by standing on the new top tier. The trainers were doing show rehearsals for Pass Member Preview Day, so I got an idea of what the show is going to be like this year. Lakota was the wolf that performed while I was there and he was super cute. He did his behaviors like a champ, and didn’t seem to mind the audience at all. The best part was the ending. All four wolves from the largest pack came running out on the stage. They had such personality. Kitchi has gotten to be so big. I can’t believe only a few months have passed since we saw him debut as a puppy. Maska was jumping in the water and chasing Kitchi, and Tala was standing on a stump posing for pictures. My favorite part was when the audience howled at Durango and he howled back. What a character.

I also got to see the newest member of Wolf Haven. If you’ve been on the edge of your seats waiting to hear about the latest North American predator to join the ranks of the wolves, the wait is over. Her name is Diane and she is a Harris Hawk. I can’t wait to go back and see her really take flight in the coming weeks.

Here is a video of Diane training with two of our animal specialists.

What an exciting first day for all involved at Wolf Haven.
